Antique Victorian (1837-1901) bangle featuring garnet gemstones set in garnet gold. The garnet stones are set into three rows, the stones are faceted allowing them to catch the light. Garnet Gold is a lower grade of gold, used in garnet jewellery during the Victorian era.
Garnets were used extensively in all different designs of Victorian jewellery, bracelets, rings, brooches and elaborate necklaces, they represent the birthstone of January and symbolise trust and friendship.
MEASUREMENTS
The bangle measures 5.7cm / 2.2" by 5.3cm / 2" internally and extends to 9cm / 3.5" allowing for it to go over the hand. The bracelet is 0.8cm / 0.3" in height.
CONDITION
The brooch is in excellent antique condition.
